Lucky Me!

I was lucky to win a fat quarter from Em and received it in the mail yesterday. I love the color of the blue and the brown polka dots make it so cute! I don't have a lot of polka dots in my stash but have really become smitten with them. I am excited to start collecting!


I was so surprised to find this adorable little quilt in the package too! I had seen Em working on cute heart quilts for Valentine's Day but never imagined one would be for me! I could not be more excited about it.

I love the scrappiness of it. And that little bow is so cute! Thank you, Em!!!

I did it!

I knit like a crazy lady all week but I did it! I finished my sweater in time to wear it for Valentine's Day! Two o'clock this morning to be exact! I am absolutely crazy about it. I almost asked it to be my Valentine but I decided I better not. Wouldn't want my husband to feel bad. Here is the first shot... (I think the power lines really add to the feel of this photo)

I skipped out today with a couple friends to visit the Madrona Fiber Arts Show. We browsed the market place. Last year I spent WAY too much money and haven't even knit from any of it yet. So it was pretty easy to not be seduced by all the lovely yarn. I did walk away today with yarn to make the Forest Canopy Shawl. I am excited to cast on my first lace shawl. The colorway is so perfect for spring...

And last but DEFINITELY not least was my brush with a famous knitter today at Madrona. I should say THE knitter as far as I am concerned. I got to meet Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka The Yarn Harlot. She was super nice and I have wanted to meet her since I started reading her books and her blog. She is currently knitting a February Ladies Sweater too and I got to see it in person.

Tonight we are going to dinner and (of course) I will wear my new sweater. I think I'll wear it to church tomorrow. And then I am going to wear it the next day and the next day and...

Sweater Update

I have spent a lot of time knitting lately and I am thoroughly enjoying it. As I have mentioned before, I am knitting my first sweater. I chose the February Ladies Sweater because it is knit from the top down and that would give me a chance to try it on periodically to see if it is fitting. So far it seems to be fitting great!

It is a pretty easy pattern to understand and I haven't come across anything that baffles me with this pattern so that's good. I love the yarn I picked. Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in the Firecracker Heather colorway. I have been using a felted join when I start a new ball of yarn. It feels like I am doing a magic trick every time!


I will be finishing this sweater this month. Very appropriate, don't you think? But even better I want to have it done so I can wear it on Valentine's Day. Stop laughing! It could happen. That is if I don't run out of yarn. I am getting a little nervous about that...

Cute Bag!

I was a very lucky girl to win Rachel's giveaway recently. And look what I got...


Yep, an adorable bag made by Rachel herself! She even added a dollar bill which sparked some memories for me. Whenever my mom would give a purse or wallet as a gift she always included a little money. I just love that tradition, so it made me smile when I saw that Rachel does that too.


This bag is so perfect to carry my knitting in when I am on the go. I love the colors and fabrics she chose! Thanks so much, Rachel!!


So speaking of knitting...remember when I used to show you the traveling scarves that would pass through here. I would knit a section and send it on. Well, there haven't been many lately. A bunch of the scarves got stuck with one of the participants and then she just disappeared. No one has heard from her. Our swap mama has done an amazing job of trying to recover them but the gal who has them has not responded. As you might have guessed, my scarf is one of the ones that is lost. Well I got a scarf in the mail today and got on Ravelry to let everyone know it arrived and I find out that a slew of missing scarves showed up at some one's house! Yay! Unfortunately mine wasn't one of them but I have hope that it might eventually surface. Keep your fingers crossed...mine are!
